Description
Grand in size and beauty, the Caterina Tiered Outdoor Fountain in Basin is the perfect choice for any large outdoor area. Water constantly pours down the large fountain tiers creating an absolutely relaxing atmosphere.
To keep a constant water level in your fountain, you can add the auto refill system. It comes with a float valve, concrete base, custom stopper, clear tubing, and a pressure relief garden hose or spigot connection. The device is connected to a garden hose or spigot, and the water is turned on and off by the valve in the unit, keeping your fountain filled effortlessly.
NOTE: The finishes are designed to replicate the look of natural aging, but unlike a painted finish, the patinas do not prevent the natural aging process. Any cast stone item with a patina finish will weather naturally in an outdoor environment. Because each patina is hand applied in a multi-step process and the product is photographed in natural settings, actual colors may vary.

It is very important for you to protect your cast stone and pottery fountains, birdbaths, planters and statuary from the freeze-thaw cycle during the winter months. Ideally, cast stone and pottery decor that can collect water, should not be left outside when temperatures dip down to freezing. They should be stored indoors or in a dry protected place such as a covered porch or garage that is away from the elements. This is not always possible, so it is recommended that you completely dry out your decor and add a waterproof cover. This is because any cast stone or pottery component that can hold water and freeze has the potential to crack and crumble. Components such as fountain pedestals which remain in a basin/pool can also crack or crumble.

I am pouring a concrete pad to put the fountain on. what types of hook ups do I need and where? does the electrical go INSIDE the center piece or how do the wires go through the bottom pond?
The electrical cord will come out the very center of the basin. You can run conduit underneath the concrete slab for the electrical cord. It is best not to have the electrical outlet directly below the basin. You can email us at info@thesoothingcompany.com for installation instructions.

How does the autofiller work in winter when the temp goes below freezing? Does it need to be emptied or can it just be disconnected and shut off for the winter?
The autofiller can be shut off for the winter. Your fountain will need to be emptied and completely dried out before temps start to freeze.

How is this fountain cared for in the winter with snow and ice? Our driveway gets covered with leaves and dead branches. In the winter time, it’s a lot to clean. My preference is to leave it. Can it be just shut off for the winter and restarted in the spring?(... after cleaning of course)
You will want to drain the fountain, completely dry it out and add a fountain cover to the top part. Keep the drain plug out of the basin for the winter months so water does not sit in the basin and freeze.

Yes, you can get submersible pond lights for this fountain. You could also get garden spotlights at a local shop to shine up on the fountain. That will illuminte the entire fountain.

What is the basin made of? Can it withstand northern USA winters uncovered?
The basin is made of fiberglass and with the concrete coping pieces that surround it. While concrete and fiberglass are very durable to cold weather, they do need to be winterized to prevent freezing water from causing cracking or crumbling. This includes draining all water, using absorbent materials like towels or blankets, and covering the feature.
