You do not need to have a home library or a spare room to create a special little reading nook for yourself. This can easily be done in any room that has a little extra space. Below is a guide to get you started.

Choose an Area

Walk through your house and decide where the best place would be to create a reading space. If you have a fairly large living room or bedroom, then a corner could easily be transformed into a reading area. If you are tight on space, then you might need to be a little more creative. Do you have space under your stairs or at the end of a hallway? Maybe your kitchen table can be moved over, so you can create a nook by the beautiful bay window. You might need to rearrange or get rid of furniture, but it will be worth it.

Add Seating

Large bean bag chairs are the absolute best options for a reading space. You will literally melt into one of these chairs and won’t want to get up for hours. Plus, the beans cradle every inch of your body to provide the harmonious balance of comfort and support. Large bean bag chairs are available in a variety of materials, colors, and stuffing options, so finding your perfect chair will not be difficult.

Create Privacy

Since your nook is likely in another room it is a good idea to section it off somehow. This allows the room it occupies to still have a nice flow while also providing you with some privacy while you are in there. A room divider is the easiest way to go. You can also create a “room” by hanging curtains on rods from the ceiling that can be pulled closed.

Add a Lamp

Proper lighting is pretty important to have in a reading nook to make sure you don’t compromise the health of your eyes. Obviously, if you have a backlit electronic reader, then maybe this is not a big deal. However, it still does not hurt to have a lamp, so you are not sitting there in the dark. Keep in mind that the shade from the curtain will block some of the room’s light, so you can expect it to be darker in your nook.

Can You Squeeze In a Table?

If you have space a very small side table will come in handy. This will give you something to rest your beverage and snack on. Plus, if you use a table lamp it can sit there, too. You do not have to spend a lot of money on a table. You can always go to the craft or home improvement store and buy a wooden crate for a few dollars and paint it.
