It is very important for you to protect your cast stone and pottery fountains, birdbaths, planters and statuary from the freeze-thaw cycle during the winter months. Ideally, cast stone and pottery décor that can collect water, should not be left outside when temperatures dip down to freezing. They should be stored indoors or in a dry protected place such as a covered porch or garage that is away from the elements. This is not always possible, so it is recommended that you completely dry out your décor and add a waterproof cover. This is because any cast stone or pottery component that can hold water and freeze has the potential to crack and crumble. Components such as fountain pedestals which remain in a basin/pool can also crack or crumble.

    Questions & Answers

    Ask a Question
    • Does this fountain come in sections for assembly on site? We live in the middle unit of a tri-plex townhouse with no access to our back patio other than through the house. If the vertical portion is separate from the basin we may be able to get it through our doors to the patio. Thanks, Tony

Yes, it comes in two separate pieces.

    • So how does it connect to the water? And for really cold weather, is there a drain or some other mechanism to keep the water from freezing and busting the stone?

You can add the water yourself as needed. You can purchase an auto refill device if you want to run a waterline to the fountain.  It is recommended that you winterize the fountain by drying it out completely, removing the pump and covering it with waterproof material.  You do not want moisture getting in and freezing.
